Carrie McCrea

Dr McCrea completed her medical training at the University of Edinburgh in 2004 and has worked locally in hospital posts before completing GP training. Dr McCrea left her post as a GP partner to concentrate on working within Sports Medicine. Carrie has experience of working with high performance sport  through her role as Team Doctor for Heart of Midlothian Football Club, Scotland Women’s Rugby, Scotland Hockey and Scottish Swimming  and  by providing medical cover at the SportScotland Institute of Sport and the Scottish Football Association. She was recently employed at  Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games as a Venue Medical Manager and is heavily involved in developing services for mental health awareness  in professional football.

Carrie  has a sporting background having competed nationally in hockey and believes regular sporting activity is the key to physical and psychological wellbeing.
