What is Hatha Yoga?
Hatha is a well-rounded style of yoga that teaches a range of postures, flowing sequences and breathing practices. It relaxes, stretches and strengthens the whole body and improves balance. Hatha yoga is refreshing and calming, helping us to shed the stresses and strains of daily life.
Polly’s Hatha yoga classes are aimed at people in good general health who are familiar with the basic components of a yoga practice, including sun salutations, inversions and Pranyama. These classes are advanced beginner/intermediate level, and help to develop a calmer, alert mind, and to improve flexibility and strength. A wide range of postures move the spine through forward and backward bending, lateral stretching and twisting. Classes include standing and balancing postures, and flowing sequences. We also focus on building core strength, weight-bearing movements and postures, and developing breath awareness and mindfulness.
