Perinatal Mental Health Counselling

Perinatal Mental Health Counselling provides compassionate, specialist support for people navigating the emotional complexities of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, birth trauma, or the challenges of adjusting to parenthood, counselling offers a safe, confidential space to explore your feelings and find your way forward.

The perinatal period is from conception through 3 years after birth, can bring unexpected emotional challenges. Many people experience anxiety or low mood during pregnancy or after birth, and these feelings are more common than we think. Having a space to talk about your experience, without judgement, can help you understand where these feelings come from and how to move through them.

Perinatal counselling can support you through fertility challenges and loss, anxiety or depression during pregnancy, preparation for birth, postnatal depression and anxiety, birth trauma and PTSD, relationship changes during the transition to parenthood, and the emotional adjustment of becoming a parent. This support is available to all parents and partners, recognising that perinatal mental health affects the whole family.

Research shows that addressing emotional wellbeing during pregnancy can reduce the likelihood of developing postnatal depression and help establish healthier patterns of thinking and relating. Early intervention through counselling supports not only your mental health but also your developing relationship with your baby.
