Body Stress Release (BSR)
Body Stress Release (BSR) is a gentle, complimentary non-therapeutic technique that helps the body release areas of stored tension in the muscles. Every day we are exposed to stress — whether mechanical (such as falls, accidents, poor posture, or repetitive strain), emotional (including worry, grief, or anxiety), or chemical (from pollution, toxins, and even certain foods). When this stress goes beyond what the body can naturally adapt to, it may become “locked” into the physical structure, disrupting normal function.
This stored tension can be the underlying cause of many common discomforts or symptoms, including, but not limited to, back and neck pain, headaches, sciatica, digestive issues, cramps, or even feelings of anxiety and fatigue. Because the nervous system plays a vital role in communication between the brain and body, tension stored along the spine and in the muscles can interfere with these signals, affecting overall health and well-being.
BSR works with the body’s own intelligence to gently encourage the release of these layers of tension — much like peeling back the layers of an onion. Using light but precise movements, the technique identifies where stress has accumulated and guides the body to unlock it, allowing natural healing and recovery to take place. It’s important to note that BSR does not diagnose or treat medical conditions — instead, it supports the body’s ability to restore balance and function at its full potential.

At your first appointment, your practitioner will give you a short introduction to Body Stress Release and take a detailed case history to understand your background, lifestyle, and any areas of concern.
You remain fully clothed throughout the session and will be asked to lie down on a specially designed bed. Using a series of light, precise reflex tests along your spine — and other areas where necessary — your practitioner identifies exactly where body stress is stored. Once these areas are located, gentle but specific pressure is applied to encourage your body to release the stored tension, restoring communication and the body’s natural self-healing abilities.
After the release, your practitioner will share their findings with you, offer advice on posture, and demonstrate simple self-help techniques to support your body’s healing process between sessions.

For your comfort, we recommend wearing light clothing. You will be asked to remove any glasses, belts and large necklaces. Shoes are normally kept on during the session, although you are welcome to wear socks if you prefer.
After your session, it’s best to avoid strenuous exercise and give your body time to adjust. Many clients feel relaxed or even tired afterwards — this is a natural part of the body’s healing response.

For new clients, three initial appointments are recommended over a two-week period. Attending all three is important, as BSR is a process and some people may experience increased sensitivity, particularly after the first release.
Many clients notice changes quickly, though the number of follow-up sessions needed will depend on how your body responds and how long the tension has been stored.
A maintenance programme will also be discussed with you, with regular BSR sessions helping to prevent body stress and supporting long-term health.
