Katy Lonsdale-Neurodevelopmental Practitioner, NLP, Auditory Processing and Specialised Yoga therapist
My name is Katy Lonsdale. I am a holistic practitioner with nearly 20 years of experience of teaching in yoga (40 years of practice), 35 years in massage therapy, and a current focus on coaching using NLP, neurodevelopmental techniques, and auditory interventions. My work is dedicated to integrating the mind and body to restore balance in a world that is becoming increasingly disconnected. In today’s society, excessive screen time, a lack of free play, and limited physical activity are creating growing challenges, particularly for children. These issues also affect adults who lead sedentary lifestyles, spending long hours in front of computers and isolated in their routines. As social beings, we thrive on connection, and it is through togetherness that we can help each other realize our full potential and purpose in life.
Through my work in neurodevelopment, I support children using movement-based systems, coaching, and yoga to help them uncover the root of their challenges. The aim is to build resilience, foster deeper connection, and support their overall development. Children build neural pathways throughout life, but especially in the early years, when development is most rapid and impactful. Sometimes, however, a child's development needs additional support to help them truly thrive and reach their potential.
I work with children who experience emotional dysregulation, behavioural challenges, attention difficulties, coordination issues, and speech and language delays. Some of the children I see are not meeting their potential, they may be working harder than their peers, yet not achieving the same results. Often, their performance doesn't reflect their intelligence, which can lead to low self-esteem, diminished confidence, and heightened stress.
These difficulties are not necessarily due to a lack of ability. More often, they are rooted in biology, such as the persistence of primitive reflexes or challenges with auditory processing. This isn't about hearing loss, but rather how the brain interprets sounds and information. In some cases, there may also be underlying biomedical factors at play.
I work in a variety of ways to support both children and adults in overcoming their challenges—whether emotional, behavioural, cognitive, or physical.
My approach is holistic and tailored to the individual, drawing on several therapeutic modalities. I use neurodevelopmental techniques, starting from the ground up with movement-based exercises to help integrate primitive reflexes. I also offer auditory therapy to support auditory processing, which is often an underlying issue in learning and attention challenges.
In addition, I use Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) and coaching to help shift how the mind perceives and responds to internal experiences. Yoga and mindfulness are also key elements in my work, particularly in calming the nervous system and supporting the vagus nerve to bring more balance to the body and mind.
My work caters to both children and adults. I typically begin with an initial screening consultation to determine the best approach for each person, whether that’s specialized yoga, a neurodevelopmental program, coaching, or sometimes a combination of these. If I identify any biomedical concerns, I’ll refer you to a clinic that specialises in addressing these types of issues.
If you feel I may be able to help, I encourage you to get in touch. I work with both children and adults, and each journey is unique.
